The Lynx racked up 341 yards on the ground and 67 through the air to put on an offensive display Friday night against the Highland Park Hornets. Just like last week, the Lynx offensive line controlled the trenches to make running the ball look easy. The return of senior tailback, Flo Flores, to the line up paid huge dividends for the Lynx. Flores rushed for 176 yards and 4 touchdowns on the night. Fullback, Cameron Meddock, also had a great night with 3 touchdowns and Jace Lang Swan scored 2 touchdowns on the ground. The success on the ground allowed the Lynx to pick and chose when to move the ball through the air and the Lynx did that effectively too. The Lynx allowed a touchdown just before the half to narrow their lead to 28-13, but the Lynx offense moved the ball 70 yards through the air in under 2 minutes. A 35 yard pass from quarterback Blayne Schroeder to Jace Swan Lang to the Hornet 5 yard line helped push the Lynx lead back to 35 to 13 at halftime. The defense again wasn’t to be outdone by the offense causing three turnovers and scoring a touchdown. Skylar Sumner’s interception returned for a touchdown was the final touches on the big district win. The final score, Lynx 56, Hornets 13. The opening district win keeps the Lynx in prime position to make the playoffs for the first time in several years. The Lynx are improving each week on both sides of the ball and seem to be growing in confidence with each win. The Lynx will need that confidence this week as they travel to Bushland to play the 3rd ranked Falcons. Kickoff is at 7:30, everyone come out and support the Lynx!!
